Jackass 9

This week's winner is my first two time recipient of the award. He generally
shoots off at the mouth and says something stupid or controversial and he loves
the attention of the media. Who could I be talking about? None other than
Terrell Owens. AKA 'T.O.' Not that long ago T.O. won the Jackass of the week for
coming out to the media that he often falls asleep during team meetings and
speeches. He was loudly chastised in the media for it by several national writers
and he won the prestigious BSN JACKASS OF THE WEEK award for it, among
other things, as well. However, why on earth would any of us think that would
stop Owens? That makes all of us jackasses, but here's why he won the award
this past week.
Last Monday, one day after the Cowboys defeated their divisional rival the New
York Giants to take sole possession of first place in the NFC East, head coach
Bill Parcells decided to give his team a speech. The message in the speech:
What it takes to win a world championship. Parcells has won two championships
so he knows what he's talking about and he knows what it takes. Anyone who
wants to win along with him would surely listen to the speech, right? Apparenty
the answer is 'Wrong' because T.O. either doesn't care about winning or doesn't
think he needs to be told how to. Here's what he said when asked about the
speech: "The Championship speech? I must have went to sleep on that one".
That's real good T.O., don't pay attention. You are supposed to be an important
player on this team that's trying to make a late run into the postseason and you
don't listen to what your leader has to say? Not only that, you were JUST
criticised only a few weeks prior for FALLING ASLEEP in meetings. WHY would
you ever come out and say that again? But he didn't stop there, when asked
again, he said: "I can't remember. I had my mind on the party," Referring to his
planned 33rd birthday party in Los Angeles the day following the speech. "I have
no earthly idea of what you are possibly talking about. I don't remember. I was
already in L.A. ... He'll have to redo it." He'll have to redo it? That's an absurd
statement to make. How bout' next time you just pay attention and don't fall
asleep! You're a multi million dollar a year athlete, part of your job is to go to
team meetings and functions and, gasp, be AWAKE! How hard is it?
To top off his candidacy for this week's award, Owens was interviewed on ESPN
last night and said he doesn't understand why he receives the attention that he
does? Uh, last time I checked, you're begging for it every time you have a
camera or a microphone in front of you! That's why you get the attention, you
WANT it. Sorry that some of it's bad Owens, but that's how it is. If you want the
good, you better damn well be able to take the bad and with you, there is a LOT
of bad...deal with it., we all have to. T.O. for your latest antics, you are the BSN
JACKASS OF THE WEEK.................again!
