BSN'S JACKASS OF THE WEEK!
|
This week we had a member of the basketball world pick up the BSN
JACKASS OF THE WEEK award. He's a great player on the court, but his
mouth landed him the title of Jackass.
In a game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards last
Sunday, Kobe Bryant was assigned the job of guarding Wizards All-Star
guard Gilbert Arenas. Arenas, led the Wizards to a 147-141 overtime victory
over the Lakers in Los Angeles by scoring 60 points! In scoring 60 points,
Gilbert made 17 of 32 shots, a 53% accuracy rate, which is a very good
percentage for a guard. However, after the game, a Mr. Kobe Bryant was
less than complimentary towards his foe. Bryant was quoted as saying
"Individually, it's funny. He doesn't really seem to have much of a
conscience. I really don't think he does. Some of the shots that he took
tonight, if you miss those, I mean they're just terrible shots. They're just
awful. I don't get a chance to play him much, so I haven't gotten used to that
mentality of just chucking it up there." First off, Kobe, you're clearly just
embarrassed that you let a guy school you for 60 points on your home court.
Secondly, I don't think Arenas was just chucking it up there when he also
had eight assists! He was obviously distributing the basketball to other
outlets for points. The Wizards scored a total of 147 points Kobe, Arenas
had a good amount of them with 60, but 87 points had to come from
somewhere else too!
Bryant went on to say that the Lakers should have just fouled Arenas since
he "struggled" from the free throw line. Define struggled Kobe. If shooting
21 for 27 from the line is "struggling", then Arenas struggled mightily, but
last time I checked shooting 77% from the line was a pretty decent statistic.
Kobe Bryant was acting like a jealous baby last week after he gave up 60
points to Gilbert Arenas. He accused Arenas of just chucking up shots,
having NO conscience, even though Gilbert had EIGHT assists and saying
Arenas struggled from the line, despite shooting 77%. Kobe clearly has a
very short memory as when he scored 81 points last season, he was
accused of a lot of the same things. Only in his case, he took more shots,
shot a lower percentage from the free throw line AND he only had TWO
assists. For his ignorance and his jealousy, Kobe Bryant is this weeks BSN
JACKASS OF THE WEEK!
