Jackass of The Week 11/13/06

This weeks winner was yet another one of those infamous NFL wide
receivers. They all seem to run their mouths lately, and this week it was
Giants Wide Receiver Plaxico Burress. Plaxico took home this weeks
honors for running his mouth and not backing any of it up.
Upon being asked about playing the Chicago Bears this week, who have
one of the top rated defenses in the league, Burress said "I don't think
they're the best corners I've played against or we've played against this
year. By far, no. Those guys make plays [on] the balls that are thrown
straight to them, but they're not just covering guys straight up and just
shutting them down. I haven't seen any of that. They're very beatable."
Then, when asked who the best corners in the league are, he said,
“Definitely not them”. You think he would have stopped there, anything
you feed an opposing team only fires them up. In a game of this
magnitude, with the winner probably being the number one seed in the
NFC for the playoffs, you can’t do anything to give the opposing team
motivation. However, Burress didn’t stop there, he went on to say “If they
want to come out there and play cover-1, bump-and-run, be [my] guest. I,
for one, love it. They want to come out there, bump and play press one-on-
one? Let's get go out there and have fun. Let's get it." That’s nice
Burress, but if you’re going to talk the talk, you better walk the walk. He
didn’t, Burress laid an egg out there last night, he had 4 catches for 48
yards and the Bears rolled the Giants in New York 38-20. Burress ran his
mouth all week, calling out the Bears defensive backs, only making them
angry. He fired up the opposing team and then he goes out and only
catches four passes for a mere 48 yards in a losing effort! You can’t do
that type of stuff and not be the BSN JACKASS OF THE WEEK!
