BSN'S JACKASS OF THE WEEK!
|
It was VERY easy to pick a winner this week. I'm sure you all know
exactly who it is and have known for a while, but let's make it
official. The ignorance that spewed from his mouth is
unbelievable. If you still don't know who I'm talking about, it's
former NBA guard and current NBA analyst Tim Hardaway.
It was recently announced that former NBA player John Amaechi
is homosexual. He is writing a book about playing in the NBA while
hiding his sexuality. Last week on a radio show based out of
Miami, Hardaway was asked what he thought about homosexuals
in the NBA. His response was as ignorant and moronic as they
come. Hardaway said "You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be
known, I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay
people. I am homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the
world or in the United States." Is that so Tim? You HATE gay
people do you? Why is that? What did a gay person ever do to
you? Did they kill or rape someone in your family? Did they
personally attack YOU? Anything short of that, and you have no
reason to hate a gay person. They are human too, and they go
through a lot of the struggles that you, as an African American go
through. They have to deal with hatred and be held back for who
they are. They have it HARDER than you. You should be able to
relate in some ways to them, and sympathize with them. Instead,
you're an ignorant human who refuses to even tolerate a person
based on his sexuality.
Hardaway didn't stop there though, he continued to say "if he was
on my team, I would, you know, really distance myself from him
because, uh, I don't think that's right. And you know I don't think
he should be in the locker room while we're in the locker room. I
wouldn't even be a part of that," Hey Jackass, just because a gay
man is in the locker room with you doesn't mean he's going to hit
on you. He's still your teammate, and you guys are trying to
achieve the same goal, winning games. What he does outside of
the locker room on his own time shouldn't matter. Chill out.
Having a gay teammate doesn't make YOU gay. You're as S-M-R-T
as Homer J. Simpson who once said in an episode "He didn't give
you GAY did he?". It's not a disease that can be given to other
people Homer, I mean Tim. It's who a person is, and it doesn't
make them an alien. You don't have to agree with it, you should
accept it though.
Hardaway did come out with the standard athlete pathetic
apology: "I don't hate gay people," Hardaway said. "I'm a
goodhearted person. I interact with people all the time. ... I
respect people. For me to say 'hate' was a bad word, and I didn't
mean to use it." Sure, you didn't mean to say 'hate' because it got
you in trouble, not because you don't hate gay people. You may
respect PEOPLE, but you clearly don't respect Homosexuals, as
you completely raked them over the coals. The only reason
you're apologizing is you were raked over the coals in return for
your ignorance. So you're nothing but a wuss Tim. You got
challenged, and you backed down. I bet you'd consider that gay if
someone else did it. Tim Hardaway, you are easily the BSN
JACKASS OF THE WEEK!
