BSN'S JACKASS OF THE WEEK!
|
As the college basketball season winds down tonight, the NBA
scene is just heating up. We are in the playoff stretch run and
every game counts. That's why you can't make plays on the
court that make you look like a jackass and cost your team a
precious win. Who am I talking about? Wizards Power Forward
Michael Ruffin.
The Washington Wizards are in a dog fight for the South East
division title in the eastern conference. If they win the
division, they will likely end up with the 3 or 4 seed and a home
court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. If they don't
win the division, they will likely fall to the 6th or even 7th spot
and have to go on the road. On Friday night, with his team up
by 3 points with only seconds to play against the Toronto
Raptors, Michael Ruffin cost his team a win. The Raptors
inbounded the ball down the court and Ruffin obtain
possession, rather than dribble out the clock with three
seconds to play, Ruffin decided to throw the ball into the air
weakly. At this point, an alert Morris Peterson of the Raptors
saw that there was still time left on the clock, caught the ball
and with .3 seconds left hit a three pointer to tie the game and
send it into overtime! (see highlight below). The Raptors went
on to win the game in overtime and the Wizards lost a much
needed game in the standings.
For his boneheaded move on the court, Michael Ruffin has
easily earned the BSN JACKASS OF THE WEEK!
