AL EAST:
1.
The defending champs have a great shot at doing it again. They can hit, pitch, field and are young to boot! You may see these guys around for quite some time folks.
2.
That's right, second. They don't have as much offense as the Sox, their pitching is suspect and I'm not sold on new manager Joe Girardi. In fact, I'm saying the Yanks miss the playoffs!
3.
The Jays have some decent players in the field and ok pitching. They have a good shot at an over .500 record, but not much more in that playing in the AL East.
4.
The team formerly known as the Devil Rays is now just the Rays. I think along with the name change they will climb out of the cellar for the first time in their existence. They have some good young players, they may have a future yet!
5.
They still have a great ballpark but this team is dreadful. Nick Markakis and Brian Roberts are ballers but Roberts will probably be gone by the trade deadline. Adam Jones is supposed to have a bright future but it's wait in see in charm city.
AL CENTRAL:
1.
The Tigers are a serious contender this year. They added Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrerea to an already potent pitching staff and lineup. This team also may have the best manager in the game. They are going to be good!
2.
* Here's your wild card. This team was in the playoffs last year as a very young, inexperienced team. They have C.C.Sabathia and Fausto Carmona at the top of that rotation leading the charge.
3.
The Sox won the series just 3 years ago but have been a huge disappointment behind annoying manager Ozzie Guillen. They do have some talent, but I'm not impressed enough with their pitching to see them being a real factor this year.
4.
Trading away Johan Santana will really hurt this team for the time being. He was good for almost 20 wins a year. Francisco Liriano needs to fill the void and they need to hope Moreneau and Mauer can cary the offense.
5.
Well, the Royals do have some youth: Alex Gordon, Billy Butler, Zack Grienke. The youth isn't ready to take this team to unfamiliar territory though. They stink.
AL WEST:
1.
They've got good pitching, though the injury to Escobar will certainly hurt. They have a potent offense and they can field their positions. The bullpen isn't too shabby either.
2.
They added Bedard to help take away the pressure from Hernandez. I think that's a good move. They have a decent lineup, led by Ichiro, but in the end, the Angels are just better.
3.
I like the fact they added Josh Hamilton, the guy is a stud. I had their pitching all around and they just don't have the horses to stay in the race.
4.
Billy Bean is rebuilding this team. He's a great GM so it should take too long but don't expect to see much out of these guys this year.
